Use This Calculator to Determine Your Estimated Place in Line to Get the COVID-19 Vaccine
As COVID-19 cases skyrocket, all eyes are on a COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer and Moderna both unveiled COVID vaccines believed to be safe and effective. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to authorize their use within days. Other vaccines are also in the works worldwide.
This is all great, but you’re probably wondering: When can I get the vaccine?
There are a lot of variables to consider, from how states will decide who gets first dibs (higher risk people) to how many vaccine doses are available (it’s going to take time). It’s especially top of mind for those with compromised immune systems.
“If I contracted the virus — and I’ve had ridiculously close-calls — I’m not sure how well my body would fight it,” Mighty contributor Tessa Koller wrote. “COVID-19 would have a lot of fun attacking my system like it’s a football player crushing my lungs and vital organs.”
You can share your first-person story too. Here’s how.
The New York Times, in partnership with two other organizations, has the answer for you with a cool new calculator. Well, at least an idea (a guesstimate, if you will).
Plug in your age and county into the calculator along with info about your profession and health. Once you click submit, the Times will pop out an idea of what number in line you might be to get the vaccine, on a scale from 1 to about 300 million.
