Close your eyes and imagine for a minute working every day of your life to try and help your child succeed. I am certain, if you are a parent, you do that already. You love. You teach. You discipline. You work to give your child the very best of you that you can at all times. You choose them over yourself. You do anything in your power to protect them. To keep them safe. Take a minute, really think about this. It’s the reason most of us have children, to truly give ourselves to tomorrow’s generation.

Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. You get caught in a life you didn’t expect. For us, that “unexpected” is autism. We didn’t plan it. When she was diagnosed, I reviewed my entire pregnancy night after night, quietly wondering if I had caused it somehow. I thought about her early life. Did I expose her to something? Unintentionally? Sometimes daily I feel guilt, for her autism, for her additional challenges. I worry I am not doing enough. Working hard enough. Giving enough. Truth is, I am exhausted.

More than once, I have been approached by someone who means well. “Have you heard of XYZ? It’s a product that will help your child.” Often these people don’t know me. Perhaps they barely know me or only talk to me when they find a new product they want to sell and think they can profit from my child. Often, these strangers or peripheral acquaintances target moms like me, and honestly, we don’t need it. They may see me struggling in a difficult situation in a store or at a restaurant and tuck a business card inside my hand. Other times they ask me if I have a church, or know God. Uh, yes on both, but where was that going?

Let me tell you what I have tried. Nearly everything. I have done everything from fight for insurance for my child to fight at school. I have tried supplements, I have removed things from her diet, from our home. I have exposed her to life, not kept her hidden at home knowing that taking her with our family will be harder, all because I want her to have her best life. I have bought more products than I can share. Everything from Bioray to CBD, essential oils to olive oil purified to the highest standards. I have tried one protocol and another. I am not sitting idly by and doing nothing to help my child.

If you are a close friend, and you know me and you see something that may help, you can share. But if I never talk to you and you only target me to spend money and join your MLM, please stop. Chances are you don’t even truly understand what you are selling.

I am not your target. I don’t need any more guilt in my life. Trying to do all I can to support her, my additional four children, my marriage and my home has me barely treading water. So please, for me, for my children and for others, please stop trying to sell me your MLM product to “save” my child. She is not broken. She is perfectly created in the eyes of all that matter.
