Show This Film to Anyone Who Says People With Autism Don’t Feel Love
Contrary to false stereotypes, people with autism can feel love.
“Autism in Love” is a feature-length documentary film that will be airing on PBS on January 11. The film follows the lives of four people with autism as they search for or attempt to maintain romantic relationships.
It’s an intimate look at people from all across the spectrum as they grapple with separate love-related challenges. Dave and Lindsey have been together for eight years and are contemplating marriage. Lenny lives at home with his mother and wants a girlfriend. Stephen, married for 20 years, must stand by his wife’s side and help her face her ovarian cancer.

The film premiered in April at the 2015 –> and was chosen as an official selection. Director Matt Fuller wanted to use the film as a chance to show that although romantic relationships may prove to be challenging for people with autism, they’re by no means beyond reach.
“I’m always looking for opportunities to tell stories about characters –>,” Fuller told The Huffington Post. “I don’t know the science. I don’t know about the disorder’s origin. I do know about the challenges many adults with autism face. I know that they want to love and be loved. And, I know they are capable of having meaningful, romantic relationships.”
