hope for today #SuicideLossSurvivor
This time of year is hard for me because my firstborn son died in September- 4 years ago- and the holidays are like a big slap in the face. So far this year has been different. I made some big changes to my self-care routine and so far I am mostly okay- which is good for me. I even felt a return of my holiday spirit and my daughter was so excited to decorate our front porch for Halloween.
The past few days have been tough. I have not been feeling so okay- I have been downright exhausted- fighting a bad upper respiratory infection that is going through part of my family. I even took a sick day yesterday and I never do that. I could feel the darkness starting to suck me in.
I woke up this morning a little anxious, which is typical the past few days. Instead of freaking out and contributing to the downward spiral, I chose to clear my calendar so I can focus on what I really need to get done today (homework- I am almost finished with my RN-BSN) and cheered myself on to avoid high sugar, high fat foods today. And I started to feel some hope. Hope and calm.
Nowhere else will get just how miraculous that is than my Mighty community.
