Today, we meet Mighty member Racquel. She is 52 years old and lives with lupus.
Racquel, what helps you?
THE MIGHTY: What helps you most when your condition affects your physical health?
RACQUEL: Rest helps me the most when lupus affects my physical health. Once rested, I am able to create a plan to work out [and] build up my strength.
What helps you most when your condition affects your mental health?
Meditation and journaling [both] help me most when lupus affects my mental health. Releasing the issue from my mind and looking within to calm my mind and spirit is most important for me.
How do you cope when your normal self-care isn’t working?
When normal self-care isn’t working, I use my faith to bring me back to my center. My faith helps keep me grounded, and it works to bring me back to the reality of me overcoming my [challenges].
