This HGTV Star Came, Saw, Conquered, and Still Put Her Mental Health First
Oftentimes in the media you see and hear success stories where the person being profiled talks about how they sacrificed it all — their social life, sleep schedule, lunch breaks, and more, all in the name of going after what they want.
Personally, it’s not every day I see a success story where the person not only came, saw, and conquered, but they also put their mental health first and foremost.
Carmeon Hamilton is an HGTV star who got her start on social media while working for a corporate furniture company. Ultimately, she outgrew her job and made the leap of faith into entrepreneurism launching her own brand Nubi Interiors. Through it all and even now, she has continued to prioritize her mental health and that is so incredible for a number of reasons.

In an interview with Insider, she said:
“I care more about living than succeeding,” Hamilton told Insider. “I want to live and cherish the moments that I have rather than chase down success. If success comes, that’s amazing, but I’m not a hustler. I’m going to do what I have to do in the moment when it’s time to work, but I’m going to live when it’s time for me to live.”
While I can only speak for myself, it’s in my personal opinion that we have been fed that idea of success over life. We’re supposed to work our butts off, only to live in our “golden” days once we hit retirement. We’re living to die, versus actually living our life with the people we care about.
As Hamilton mentions, a strong foundation is important and that foundation is your health. It’s harder to show up if you’re struggling to get out of bed. You can force yourself, and sometimes you do have to work through harder days, but sometimes forcing yourself to do that just sets you back more. You have to listen to your body and your mind and make sure you rest when you can. If not, they will decide when it’s rest time, and it’s not usually in a very convenient way.
