For many, the holidays mark “the most wonderful time of the year,” but for those who spend the holidays away from their loved ones to take care of their health, the season can be difficult to get through.
This year, we’re asking you to help us spread some love and support by sending cards to those receiving psychiatric care over the holidays. We’re partnering with McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts, to deliver cards to children and adults with mental illnesses.
How to Participate
Participating is simple! You can make a card, buy a card or download and print one of our card templates below. Your card doesn’t need to be fancy. It just needs to come from you.
What you write in the card is up to you. Send season’s greetings, warm wishes or a message that may have helped you during a tough time in your life.
The more the merrier, so recruit family, friends, co-workers to create cards as well. Make it a challenge among your Facebook friends or host a card decorating party to bring people together.
It’s up to you how you sign your card. You can put just your first name or add what state you are from to show how far your message has traveled.
Where to Send Your Card
All cards will be pre-screened by The Mighty’s staff before they are delivered, so no need to worry about envelopes. If you want people to open their card in an envelope, leave the envelope unsealed. Cards do not have to be mailed individually. If you are collecting multiple cards, you can send them all as one package to:
The Mighty
210 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Ste C
Burbank, CA 91502
All cards must be postmarked by December 15 and will be delivered to McLean Hospital by December 24.
And because it’s not just people in the hospital having a tough time this holiday season, we may share some of the cards we receive in a future post or on social media.
You can also share your designs and messages with us on social media using the hashtag #MightyMail.
