Why This Veteran Wants to Get Donald Trump Down to His Underwear
Hey Donald Trump, this veteran has a message for you.
Donny O’Malley, retired Marine Captain and founder of the nonprofit Irreverent Warriors, has challenged the Republican presidential candidate, former reality TV star and current billionaire, to join him and fellow veterans at the NYC Silkies Hike — a walk where veterans walk in silkies (short underwear) to bring awareness to the 22 veterans who die by suicide each day.
“I challenge you, Donald Trump, to join us as we hike New York City. Your city,” O’Malley says in the video below.
At Silkies Hikes all across the country, veterans have been coming together to walk 22 km (a little more than 13 miles) with 22 kg (nearly 50 pounds) on their backs, to bring awareness to veteran mental health. The New York City walk is Saturday, August 22. There are five days left for Trump to accept the challenge.
“It reminds us that the brotherhood and camaraderie we once experienced in the military will never die,” O’Malley says in the video.
He says Trump can prove his commitment to veterans by showing up and joining them in New York City. The video includes a clip of Trump in a TV interview saying, “I’ll take care of our vets because our vets are treated horribly.”
“You will make a more powerful statement than your money will ever buy,” O’Malley says.
