I have unknowingly been making my condition worse! I started taking ashwagandha as part of a medicine to help with hot flashes back in November and started to have some terrible breakthrough depression. I didn’t attribute the breakthrough anxiety and depression to the ashwagandha at first then I thought about it and realized it was the only thing different I’d done. After having been stable for a couple of years I thought, what in the world is going on?? So I read the ingredients and found that ashwagandah can lessen the effects of some medications and can interact with my thyroid meds. So-I stopped taking it. Felt better. Then I started magnesium on the suggestion of my doctor and couldn’t get out of this terrible depression and then anxiety. I’ve been in a terrible mixed episode up and down. Even considering suicide at times. Even cutting again. Dr. Increased my meds, added a new one. So today my husband took a look at the magnesium I’ve been taking and turns out it too has Ashwagandah! It’s a mood blend. I had no idea. Strangely, everything I’ve read says it’s so great and helps with mood and anxiety. I’m just sharing my experience in case anyone else can benefit.
