On World Suicide Prevention Day, people say, “You’re not alone.”

But what does that really mean?

You’re not alone means if you’ve struggled with suicidal thoughts, 9.3 million people have been in your shoes.

You’re not alone means if you’ve ever attempted suicide, 1.3 million people know that pain.

You’re not alone means if you’ve lost someone to suicide, there’s a strong community of people who understand that unique grief.

You’re not alone means that when you’re feeling hopeless, there are people who have felt that way, and survived.

So let’s make suicide less scary to talk about.

Because that’s the first step to getting these numbers down.

If you’re struggling with suicidal thoughts, reach out.

You don’t have to go through this alone.

If you or someone you know needs help, please reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by calling (800)-273-8255.

You can also reach the Crisis Text Line by texting “HOME” to 741-741.
