To the Man Who Helped Me Through My Panic Attack
Hello Amazing Human,
Last night my inhaler and intranasal steroids got the best of me.
You were tired. You’d just gotten home from a busy weekend standing up at a wedding — a wedding I couldn’t attend because of my solar urticaria. But it wasn’t my solar urticaria that caused my panic attack. It was a regular over-the-counter intranasal steroid and the inhaler I’d been prescribed to take care of a nasty sinus infection and bronchitis I’d been fighting for weeks.
And you were there for me. You’re always there for me.
I sobbed for 45 minutes. I coughed so hard I was dry heaving. I physically couldn’t stop shaking for hours.
But you didn’t go up to bed — even though you probably wanted to — you only left to grab me a blanket or some tea. You held my hand. You held me. You talked to me when I needed it and stayed quiet when I needed that. You tolerated my dog incessantly nuzzling you trying to tell you I wasn’t OK.
You helped me.
And for that I am so incredibly thankful.
