Finding a job is never an easy task — from writing a great cover letter to acing an interview and negotiating a salary. If this is your first time looking for a job in awhile or you want to find a job that will better accommodate your disability, chronic illness or mental health condition, the process might feel even more daunting. You’re not alone.

In an article titled, “10 Tips for Job Hunting When You Have Social Anxiety,” members of The Mighty community shared their tips for success while job searching, and they’re relevant whether you have anxiety or not. For example, Charlotte E. recommended determining what you really want out of a job. She advised:

Take some time to reflect on what makes you feel purpose, passion and contentment. Once you have this list, it might be helpful to identify what places of employment will offer you some or a lot of these things.

In addition to taking the job hunt one step at a time by doing a little bit every day, apply to a lot of jobs and make sure you’re prepared for your interviews. And don’t forget, you have a lot to offer prospective employers, as Saibh M. said:

Spend as much time as you can listing and reminding yourself of all the achievements you have made each day — big or small — to remind yourself you are capable and have qualities other people adore.
