    Jobs for Individuals with Disabilities

Thought I'd share this here in case if anyone is looking for a job. Something you might want to try is an employment agency that's specifically set up to help people with disabilities find work. Galt Foundation www.galtfoundation.org/jobs is a good option for this because they usually have lots of postings for different jobs and skill levels, and you can do full-time or part-time. Plus, they work with people one-on-one and do coaching/mentoring if needed. And there's benefits like vacation, sick pay, and health insurance on some assignments.

Work-From-Home Jobs for People With Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses

It’s officially the holiday season! While this year’s festivities look quite different than the past, there is a lot to be thankful for. I am personally grateful for the community I’ve found of chronically ill and disabled people who share similar experiences, stresses and fears. Communities like The Mighty make me feel less alone this holiday season. I’m also feeling thankful for the companies actively making strides to be more inclusive. 2020 has been a wild year, but we have an opportunity now to take our learnings into 2021. We’ve learned that you don’t necessarily need to be physically in an office in order to be productive. Companies across the globe have gone remote — and we’ve learned that businesses can still thrive and grow with remote talent. We’ve also seen businesses needing to look beyond the typical boundaries of diversity to include those with illnesses and disabilities. These are all incredibly important changes that we must continue in 2021 and beyond. For those of you who are new to these monthly articles and wondering why I’m so passionate about remote opportunities for all, my name is Hannah Olson and I’m the founder of Chronically Capable, a digital talent marketplace and community that connects chronically ill + disabled jobseekers to flexible job opportunities. We have always believed in the importance of creating space for the chronically ill and disabled to work and excel at their jobs without feeling like they have to sacrifice their health. Now, we’re working on getting employers across the globe to join us in actively supporting our community! If you want to keep up with our work and our job opportunities, be sure to sign up for our newsletter or check out our Instagram to stay updated! On that note, I’d love to share seven remote work opportunities available this November. 1. Mayv As an inclusive employer on Chronically Capable, Mayv is a company building products for patients with chronic pain and building a company that hires patients living with chronic pain. If you’re looking for the most inclusive company ever, Mayv is truly committed to supporting its employees and plans to hire its entire workforce through Chronically Capable. Pretty cool, right? While Mayv is currently hiring for contract positions, there is an opportunity to convert to full-time with benefits down the road! The Details: Position(s) open right now: Instructional Designer(s) Location/s: Remote worldwide How To Find Other Remote Mayv Jobs: Visit Mayv’s employer page on Chronically Capable to view other open roles. 2. Memberstack Are you looking to join a small, flexible, remote team? Well, look no further. Memberstack’s team of seven works from all corners — from patios to home offices, mountain cabins and coffee shops. The company creates tools that make it easier to spin up a web app, operate and scale an online business, and generate revenue. In the coming months, the company expects to hire for engineering, support, design, marketing, content and more — ranging from contract to full-time roles. The Details: Position(s) open right now: Part-time Technical Support Champion Location/s: Remote worldwide / wherever you’re happiest How To Find Other Remote Memberstack Jobs: Visit Memberstack’s profile on Chronically Capable to view its (flexible) open positions. You can also apply for a future role if no current openings pique your interest. 3. Bumble I’d swipe right on this company if I could. While we may know Bumble as the dating app that puts women in the power seat, the company strives to be diverse and inclusive for all. It even encourages applicants to ask for reasonable adjustments at any point in the application or interview process! Given it’s gone remote due to COVID-19, Bumble has opened up its opportunities for applicants worldwide. It offers some of the coolest remote-friendly benefits I’ve seen thus far including flexible working hours, live yoga and meditation classes, monthly meal delivery, and even an employee support fund for those who have faced hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is all in addition to their comprehensive health benefits! The Details: Position(s) open right now: Multilingual Freelance Social Customer Care Moderator, Data Analyst, and more Location/s: Remote worldwide How To Find Other Remote Bumble Jobs: To view more openings, visit the company’s careers page. 4. Siege Media With offices in San Diego, Austin and NYC, this remote-friendly company has a distributed team of designers, developers, copywriters and more. Siege Media is a growing company that cares about its employees’ wellbeing, and makes that a priority. The company has some snazzy benefits including health insurance, an annual personal development stipend, unlimited PTO and more. If I were applying to jobs, I’d be stoked about the $1K per year stipend so I could go back to school! The Details: Position(s) open right now: Content Marketing Specialist, Graphic Designer, Content Strategist, and more Location/s: Remote How To Find Other Remote Siege Media Jobs: Visit the company’s career page for current openings. 5. RxSaver I’m sure we can all agree that prescriptions are expensive. I personally used to spend several thousand dollars a month on medications to treat my chronic Lyme disease. RxSaver is a free tool that can help you save up to 85% off prescription medications at nearby pharmacies — and it’s looking to hire chronically ill and disabled talent! This flexible, remote company offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental and vision plans, 401(k) and long-term incentive plan benefits, and more. The Details: Position(s) open right now: Site Reliability Engineer, Senior Data Engineer, and more Location/s: Remote worldwide How To Find Other Remote RxSaver Jobs: Visit the company’s employer profile on Chronically Capable to explore opportunities. 6. KeepTruckin Leadership at KeepTruckin, a fleet management company, believes diversity drives innovation and improves an organization’s ability to adapt to rapid change. The company strives to be inclusive to those living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. But how does the company do that? It took the time to tell us about what it’s like to actually work for the company, so be sure to check out the full interview here. KeepTruckin offers comprehensive health benefits and has a work hard, snack harder culture, lots of laughs, karaoke and the happiest of hours. The Details: Position(s) open right now: Executive Assistant, Mid Market Account Executive, Business Recruiter, and more Location/s: Anywhere that makes you happiest How To Find Other KeepTruckin Jobs: Visit KeepTruckin’s career page on Chronically Capable to explore an opportunity that works best for you. 7. Meddy Since we’re all patients here, we can probably all agree how fabulous Meddy’s mission is: to help patients make informed health decisions. Meddy is building a future where access to health care information is easy and convenient, and it’s creating the best place to build products to democratize health care information in the region. If you’re looking for a flexible job in the medical space that you can do from home — or a cabin in the woods — then Meddy might be just what you’re looking for. The Details: Position(s) open right now: Call Center Associate Location/s: Remote worldwide How To Find Other Remote Meddy Jobs: Visit Meddy’s career page and pick an opening that catches your eye — all jobs can be done remotely. It’s September 2020 and college students across the globe are starting to return to school with their masks on and new rules and regulations. As students attempt to return to “normal” life, those of us who are chronically ill are still living with a heightened sense of fear. You see, things are still not “normal.” Especially when you live with a chronic condition and the risk to rush back to normal isn’t possible. Luckily enough, COVID-19, in many ways, has increased accessibility for chronically ill and disabled jobseekers who were previously left out of the virtual workplace.
