7 Work-From-Home Jobs You Can Apply for This September
Real talk. Looking for a legit work-from-home job on the internet isn’t as straightforward as it should be. Like everywhere else, scammers are lurking with real-looking job advertisements that sound fabulous but once you take the first step to apply, things start to get suspicious. This might include never learning the name of the company you’re supposedly interviewing for or having an “interview” through online chat instead of the phone.
If you’re worried about getting scammed during the job hunt process, you’re definitely not alone. According to a FlexJobs survey on flexible work trends, over 80% of those looking for remote jobs online were very concerned about falling into a scammer’s trap. Nearly 20% of those surveyed did get caught in a job scam. It’s not always so easy to tell a legit remote opportunity from a fake one.
FlexJobs offers a few tips to avoid scams. For example, look for anything that doesn’t look professional in a company’s correspondence with you. Emails riddled with grammatical errors or from an odd-looking email address are red flags. A real hiring manager also shouldn’t ask for your personal details upfront (like a social security number) or require you to pay to move forward in the process. And, always trust your gut. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
