Rock Singer Eddie Money Dies at 70 From Cancer
Rock singer Eddie Money has died from complications due to stage 4 esophageal cancer at the age of 70, according to a statement from his family provided to Variety on Friday. Money is best know for rock hits such as “Two Tickets To Paradise,” “Take Me Home Tonight,” “Shakin’,” “Think I’m In Love,” and “Baby Hold On.”
Money first revealed he was diagnosed with cancer in August on an episode of his reality TV show, “Real Money.” The show followed Money and his wife and five kids, and the final six episodes of the show’s second season will focus on the impact of Money’s cancer diagnosis on him and his family, according to Deadline. He received the diagnosis last fall. The singer also had a heart valve procedure in June, unrelated to his cancer.
In a statement provided to Variety, Money’s family said:
The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.
Friends and fans reacted to his death on Twitter and shared condolences.
I really want to impress upon you what an awesome guy Eddie Money was. He was as appreciative of his fans as any artist I've ever seen. Just a regular, unpretentious fellow who treated everyone wonderfully. Always delightful to work with, too. One of the good ones. https://t.co/eiQtsOtnHg

Eddie Money was a great rock ‘n’ roll singer. Catskills funny and a cool cat persona. Irreverent and reverential about rock ‘n’ roll. One ticket to paradise. He will be missed. Much love to his family and friends. RIP pic.twitter.com/bfvybNagSD

RIP Eddie Money. The quintessential "guy who lives forever because classic-rock radio played two of his songs every 8 hours" artist. Also, one of the great stage names in rock history. Every casino and county fair should fly their flags at half-mast today.
