6 Work-From-Home Jobs You Can Apply for Now

Happy June! Summer is right around the corner and I personally can’t wait to start writing these articles poolside. I also can’t help but reflect on the summer of 2017. I had just graduated from Boston University and was ready to take on the workforce.

Two weeks after my graduation, my doctor informed me that we had exhausted all efforts at battling my Lyme disease. There was one option left that was in reach — a PICC line. For those of you who aren’t familiar, a PICC line is a peripherally inserted central catheter. In simple terms, I would have to get a permanent IV placed in my arm.

I was 21 years old, I just graduated college, and now I would have to get a PICC line? I remember the waves of emotions that followed: fear, anxiety, shame, anger. At the same time, there was one little piece of me that felt a sense of hope. Maybe this would finally rid me of the disease that had just stolen three years of my life. It was a sunny day in June 2017 that I sat in the passenger seat next to my mom as we drove to New Hampshire to get my PICC line placed. 

That summer, I spent most of my time inside. I couldn’t swim, I couldn’t sweat, so what was I supposed to do? I remember feeling so trapped in my own home; much like I have felt during the COVID-19 pandemic. The one thing I held onto during this time was that sliver of hope.

I know that 14 months into the pandemic we are all feeling restless. Many of us are used to spending time inside our homes, hospitals, doctors offices. But this year has still been hard. I hope we can all find time to get some air this summer — to be outside — and that we can all keep holding on.

Ya’ll must know ESPN, Lifetime, HISTORY… right? Well, these networks are owned by Hearst, a leading global, diversified media, information and services company with more than 360 businesses. Founded in 1966, PRIDE Industries’ mission is to create employment for people with disabilities. Come on — we can’t get much better than a company that is specifically seeking to create employment opportunities for the disability community! I mean it when I say that this organization lives and breathes inclusion. They offer the option to work remotely with comprehensive benefits which are not specifically laid out in the job listings. Cannabis lovers — this company may be perfect for you.
