Work Life with Chronic Pain
I work at a daycare and am on my feet, chasing, taking care of, feeding, and carrying a class of kids 9 hours a day. I work in the 4k room and they past week or so I've been so tired and don't want to go in to work. I try my best to keep a smile on my face (which gets easier once I see the kids!) and not complain. I have called in at 6am, 1 hour before my shift, before and they always accomadate me super well! I love my job but it's just so long and I am having a hard time feel well everyday.
The other day I spun around and something in my back pinched up causing pain when I put pressure on my right foot. I took 3 ibuprofen and asked to go home but they didn't have a teacher to replace me so I staying for the rest of my 9 hour shift. I cried at work that day.
If you have a job and have a hard time working due to your chronic pain or illness I want to encourage you to find 1 good thing per day that you work and focus on it all day long! Some days, for me, it's the cute smiles, the hugs, the art project, the laughter, the petty disagreements, or the coffee I downed before work. Find the good and latch on to it. You'll be okay. I promise.
Thanks for reading my mini thoughts. If you have anything to say about your job or illness and want a listening ear comment below and I'll read and try to respond! :)
