Sia Reveals She Has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
On Friday, singer-songwriter Sia revealed she lives with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, among other chronic illnesses, in a tweet.
The “Chandelier” singer shared a message on Twitter for others dealing with chronic pain. She also revealed she lives with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a genetic disorder that impacts the amount and quality of connective tissue in your body. It can cause a variety of symptoms, from loose joints that dislocate easily to fragile skin, easy bruising and digestive issues, among others.

“Hey, I’m suffering with chronic pain, a neurological disease, ehlers danlos and I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going,” Sia tweeted. “Life is fucking hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you’re not alone.”

Sia has previously been open about her mental health, eating disorder, suicidal thoughts and addiction, but this is the first time she revealed her EDS diagnosis. She joins other celebrities with EDS who raise awareness for the condition such as Jameela Jamil, Yvie Oddly and Russell Kane.
