To the People I Don't Thank Enough, From a Girl With Fibromyalgia

There are a lot of people who are on my fibromyalgia journey with me. I definitely don’t thank them enough, but here is a try:

My doctors.

Especially my rheumatologist, the rheumatology PA and the pulmonary/sleep medicine doctor. Without you three, I probably would not be doing as well as I am today. How did I get so lucky to find you guys? I will never know, but I am so glad that I did. Plus, I am not sure how many other doctors would call me back after hours and call in a prescription at 8 p.m. at night for me!

My massage therapist and acupuncturist.

You gals are amazing. You both have helped me relax my body and not scream in pain when being touched. Releasing muscle tension is a huge part of fibromyalgia and you both have helped reduce that so much.

My chiropractor.

I wish I had time to get an adjustment every day. I feel like I could run a marathon every time I leave the office. It’s like I have a fresh, brand new body.

My friends.

You all are so patient with me and that is tremendously appreciated. None of you ever judge me for having to cancel on plans, or having to take lots of breaks when hanging out. Never have you guys treated me differently since my diagnosis.

Last but certainly not least, my family.

From going with me to several doctor appointments, lab draws and scans to just supporting me at home, you guys are truly the best. Your patience, kindness and love have only increased with this diagnosis. You put up with me on my worst days and celebrate with me on my best days, never leaving my side.

Having appreciation for those on my team is something I strive to do every day. I know I don’t always remember to tell them (thanks, fibro fog and overall fatigue), but hopefully I can be better about showing my gratitude.

XO
