So, I'm sure you've seen it all over the place--this study that predicts a "radical transformation" in the way fibromyalgia is treated because in a study that had TWENTY-THREE PEOPLE in it, fibro patients tend to have a high a1c score, indicating prediabetes. Now people are breathlessly sharing this "OMG AMAZING NEW CURE" article--not just on their news feeds but in actual groups of spoonies--and there's absolutely no freaking way a study could conclusively prove (or even suggest) something if it only had 23 people in it.

First of all, correlation is not causation. Just because these 23 (or 27, or whatever, definitely less than 30) people with fibro also happened to have high a1c levels doesn't mean that metformin is going to magically cure fibromyalgia.

Secondly, there are about as many different manifestations of as there are people with . Not only that, but some people who have also have diabetes, and some people don't. I'm glad metformin helped some of these people to feel better, but I think it's more likely that their prediabetes symptoms were being lumped in with the rest of their symptoms.

Third the next person who shares some BS they found on Mercola with me I may just throw my bottles of meds at them. ( The a1c story wasn't on Mercola but it's certainly unscientific enough to end up there. #Fibromyalgia #badscience #mediahype #justpissesmeoff

I don’t go out very often because as the same reason you folk. The pain in usually is twice as bad for doing it . It’s all most like a punishment for getting out there and having a bit of freedom.Thinking at the time it’s almost worth it.Because you do get to see people you don’t get to see like your long loss friends and all those relatives that you use to do things with that don’t bother with you anymore .Because you are more a hindrance in their life now then anything.The one thing that irritates me when we are having a conversation and this has happened so many times now that now I just get rude.They will say to me well one good thing you don’t have to work anymore !!!
Are you effing kidding me I am sitting at 59 years old this diecease started taking over my body when I was 55 years old .I would give anything to work again . 😢😢😢. Anything to take away this pain and to be normal !!
