Kia Kaha Christchurch
Eight years ago I watched my city crumble. Earthquakes came like waves, one after the other, as we struggled to find our feet. Buildings were destroyed and lives were lost.
Now I watch from afar as again, Christchurch is shaken to its core. My heart aches for my home, especially for the Muslims who have been targeted, and the young people who are facing their second major traumatic event. We have a whole generation who do not know safety. How can you trust the world knowing that such horrific things could happen at any moment?
Fortunately I know Christchurch. I know how strong we are. I trust that people will care for their friends and neighbours. Even as we are scared we will not let fear win.
