What I Want You to Know About Therapy as a Therapist

Therapy is hard. Therapy is difficult. Therapy is one of the greatest things you will ever do in your life. Therapy is one of the greatest gifts you can give those around you. Therapy isn’t designed to be easy. It’s there to help you and support you without any secret motive or agenda.

Talking to friends and family is great, it can help us get through the day. But it doesn’t always help people move forward or get to the crux of what’s going on behind the scenes.

Enter the therapist. We have no agenda that isn’t yours. We don’t need you to be better so you will be happier to be around or so you won’t stay in bed all day or so you can get back to work.

Please believe in our position as an impartial third party. Please believe you can trust us to sit with you in anything. Please believe in your own ability to get through this rough patch in your life, because it doesn’t have to stay like this.

Therapy helps when you are too close to the wall and all you can see is darkness. Therapy helps you see life still has light and joy.

Your therapist is walking right alongside you. You know you better than anyone, they simply want to help you find you again.
