When I Feel Like I'm Not Where I'm 'Supposed to Be' Because of My Health

Sometimes I’m too hard on myself. I compare myself to my friends. My friends that drive, work full time and have relationships are “further ahead” than I am.

I’m working on realizing how far I’ve come instead of how far I still want to go.

I graduated high school and got an associate’s degree. It took years of hard work, but I did it.

I work part time as a preschool teacher. It’s hard some days, but I love it. It’s something I was told I’d never be able to do.

I went from years of speech therapy as a kid to competing on a poetry slam team in high school.

Sometimes it’s still hard, and I still feel like I’m not doing enough compared to my friends. But I’m working on being proud of my accomplishments and liking who I am.
