Virsaviya Borun has Pentalogy of Cantrell with ectopia cordis, a rare congenital disorder where the heart grows outside of the chest wall. While 1 in 200,000 babies are born with some form of Pentalogy of Cantrell, only one in a million babies are born with the kind Virsaviya has.

The 6-year-old made headlines this month when her mother, Dari Borun, launched a crowd funding page to help cover the family’s medical expenses, but the attention they’ve received has done more than raise money. It put them in touch with Audrey, another young girl living with the disorder, and the two girls met earlier this month. The Boruns traveled from their home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to visit Audrey and her mother Ashley in Houston, Texas, and TV cameras captured the excited girls meeting for the first time.

Audrey’s mother told Inside Edition her 3-year-old daughter was beyond thrilled to meet Virsaviya, and she thought letting the girls play doctor would be a great way to help them better understand their bodies. Upon meeting Virsaviya, Audrey told her mom, “She has a pretty heart like me.”

“She knows what she’s going through, and to see another child with the same condition is just amazing,” Audrey’s mom continued. “It gives us courage that Audrey will one day be 6 years old.”

Audrey and Virsaviya formed a fast bond, and after playing doctor and sitting down for a picnic, the girls and their mothers headed to a local Build-A-Bear. Of course, the most amazing moment was when the little girls first met. Check it out in the video below:
