A year ago I got Social Security Disability due to having MS (which is mild) and severe major depression which has made it difficult if not impossible to work. I'm also single & live alone (with 3 cats). I'm finding it difficult on these quiet days, when I'm not helping friends or meeting with my mental health case manager, to find purpose, motivation, & meaning. And before anyone suggests volunteering, social anxiety & fluctuating energy levels make make it difficult to be reliable.
