Actor Luke Perry died on Monday at the age of 52, according to TMZ. Perry was known for playing Fred Andrews on “Riverdale” and Dylan McKay on “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Perry was hospitalized in Burbank, Calif. last Wednesday after a massive stroke. Strokes happen when the blood flow to your brain is interrupted. A “massive” stroke occurs when a large part of the brain is affected. Stroke recovery often depends on the part of the brain affected and how quickly medical intervention was administered.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world,” a representative for Perry told TMZ.

Fans, friends and other celebrities reacted to Perry’s death on Twitter and shared condolences.
