People Are Warning Each Other About a Mental Health Trigger in 'A Star Is Born'

If you’re planning on seeing “A Star Is Born” and don’t have any triggers around suicide, stop reading now — there are spoilers ahead.

But, if you’ve lost someone to suicide, have attempted suicide or you’re particularly sensitive to depictions of suicide, there are few things you might need to know before heading to the theater to see Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s latest film.

“A Star Is Born” is a love story about Jack (Cooper) and Ally (Gaga). Jack is a troubled musician who faces his demons as he helps Ally skyrocket her own career as a singer and songwriter. The movie hit theaters on Oct. 5, and has already received critical acclaim.

Despite many enjoying the film, some are taking to Twitter to warn others that the movie does feature a death by suicide, and while it doesn’t show the suicide happening, it does provide vivid details of the method.

i walked into the film not knowing there was going to be a suicide scene. it’s triggered me so badly and i feel terrible so for anyone who needs to know about this, either walk into the cinema prepared or don’t see it

Y’all. Massive TW: suicide, depression, addiction for A STAR IS BORN. Still a good movie. Has an important message, esp for women. But TWs all the same. It took everyone in my theater by surprise. And no, TWs are not spoilers. If you say so, you will be blocked.

just a warning to anyone who plans on seeing a star is born— be very careful, i haven’t seen anything in the media about this but it’s very triggering for alcoholism, drug abuse and has a relatively graphic suicide scene. keep yourselves safe.
