Just home now from yoga, noticed the Mighty email and I had a thought and a thought I thought I would share... I have only one arm, lost my left eye and the left side of my face was devastated from motorcycle accident when was 18. I am 52 years old now and have suffered TBI’s on 3 occasions and Lyme Disease of the chronic variety. The last head injury found me being air lifted to St.Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN where I spent 32 days in hospital and most of it not knowing who, where, what and why. The last injury Left me with PTSD, severe depression which led to a suicide attempt that was very close to succeeding and another month in hospital and psych ward. I am college educated, married and have 2 beautiful children. Beyond the bio of my life, what my though was is that life keeps moving and so can you. Regardless of circumstance parts of you can move, even if it is just an eyelid or less. Moving in a meaningful way is a release and spiritual lift. Yoga is Now! I have trained in Trauma Informed Yoga and this applies to any form of trauma. This is a healing modality that is truly life transforming. NO, it is not always easy to make these steps but safe spaces are being created for healing yoga to inspire and change lives. I am living proof!
