making some headway

Today is a small victory for me. I am currently waiting to get a kidney transplant. I have certain things I have to do in order to follow protocol. One of those things is three days a week of dialysis treatments. For those of you that are unfamiliar with dialysis, I’ll break it down simply. You walk in, put your stuff down, get weighed to see how much you’ve gained since your previous treatment. Then you get to your assigned chair and get comfortable because you’re in for a long ride lol. The techs and nurses then talk with you about what you want to be your goal for the day. Your goal being how much fluid you’d like to take off. When I walked in today, my weight was 93.0.0.4 kg. I decided to challenge myself (which means try to remove more than I gained). I told my tech that I wanted to go for at least 4 kilos. I stayed for my five hour treatment and was ready to head out for the weekend. I then went back to the scale and weighed out. I weighed out at 89.0.0.3 kilos. Which means that I am UNDER my dry weight for the weekend. My dry weight is 91.0.0.0 kilos btw. So for the first time in quite a while, I was able to tell my nurse that I wanted to DROP my dry weight by half a kilo, instead of raising it! I am thrilled! #woohoo !
