It can be hard to know what to say after someone you love loses someone to suicide. No words can really make it better… but saying something is often better than saying nothing at all. That’s why we asked people in our mental health community who’ve lost someone to suicide to share with us one thing they needed to hear from friends and family after their loss.
Of course, everyone will need something different — and one text is just the beginning — but people who’ve lost someone to suicide need our support, and we can’t let the stigma of suicide stop us from reaching out to them.
