13 Amazon Prime Day Deals on Products That Help People With a Disability, Chronic Illness or Mental Health Condition

This year for Amazon Prime Day — a two-day event July 15 and 16 — we wanted round up a list of deals you can cash in on specifically if you live with a disability or health condition. Though Amazon hasn’t released all of its deals yet — rumored to include more than 1 million items — it might be a great time to get a good deal on that Roomba, new set of headphones or foam mattress topper you’ve had an eye on.
We took a look at an early sneak preview of Prime Day deals to bring you a list of 13 products that will be on sale and have helped others in The Mighty’s disability, chronic illness and mental health communities.
Here are the community recommendations that will be on sale:
1. Amazon Echo
Amazon’s version of a smart speaker, the Echo (and its voice-activated assistant Alexa) allow you to do just about anything you could do with a smartphone by using your voice. Echo can do everything from play music or audio books, make phone calls or turn on the lights or air conditioning by speaking to the Echo so your home is more accessible.

2. Kindle E-Reader
Carry around as many books as you want with the Kindle e-reader tablet. It’s easy to add ebooks, especially ones you can borrow for free from the library. It’s easy to store the Kindle your nightstand or carry around in a backpack and you can also download games and other apps.

3. Ring Smart Doorbell
A smart doorbell you can control remotely can make your home more accessible. For Prime Day, the Ring brand video doorbell will be on sale, which lets you see and hear who is at the door and speak with them directly from a phone, tablet or computer.

4. Headphones
Headphones can serve a lot of purposes, like block out sounds if you’re sensitive to noise, plug in to your favorite music if you need a distraction or amplify your devices if you’re hard of hearing. While Amazon didn’t say what headphones would be on sale yet, some brands, including Beats, Sennheiser and Bose, are included in early deals.

5. Under Armour Clothing
Under Armour clothing can help with regulating your temperature or provide compression, which may be helpful if you experience temperature sensitivities or joint issues because of a chronic illness or disability. Amazon hasn’t revealed which items will be on sale specifically, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open during the sale.

Finding comfortable and practical clothing when you live with a disability or chronic condition can be difficult. It just so happens Adidas brand clothing and shoes are recommended often by The Mighty community. Amazon didn’t announce specifics, but according to early announcements, you can expect deals on Adidas clothing, shoes and other accessories.

Keeping on top of chores can be near impossible sometimes if you struggle with a mental health condition like depression or chronic fatigue because of another health condition. If you can splurge, an automatic vacuum cleaner like the Roomba can make your space cleaner with less effort.

Trying to get a good night sleep with chronic pain isn’t easy, so sometimes adding a memory foam mattress topper to your bed can add extra comfort. This Prime Day, Linenspa brand mattress toppers will be on sale, but there aren’t any details yet. Plus, several mattress brands will also be on sale if you want to replace your mattress completely.

If you’re sensitive to allergens in your home, from dust to pet dander, an air purifier may make your space a little more breathable. Levoit purifiers include a pre-filter, HEPA filter and activated carbon filter. Amazon hasn’t released details, but Levoit brand air purifiers will be included in Prime Day deals.

10. Gatorade
Especially if you live with a dysautonomic condition like postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) that can cause light-headedness, faintness and shaking, keeping electrolyte-replenishing drinks on hand may be part of your standard routine. For Prime Day, Amazon is discounting Gatorade products, with more details to come.

Typically you can choose a subscription from one month to a year, but the details of this deal remain to be seen.
