My pain management kit #Pain #PainManagement #CRPS #comp
Hello, my name is Jax. I’m 16 years old and was diagnosed with CRPS Five years ago. Recently I’ve been having really bad flares. Since my parents aren’t cool with me seeing a doctor(no I don’t know why, yes I’m salty about it) I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. I’ve created this pain kit full of things that help me. Given I’ve had CRPS for so long, it’s really difficult to alleviate pain. That being said, here are some things that help:
I’ve gotten a portable TENS unit recently and it brings my pain down about two levels. I keep two knee braces in my kit because my knees tend to buckle when I’m in a lot of pain. Support keeps them stable at least a little bit and alleviates the extra pain that comes with buckling. I keep a washcloth and ace bandage to use for my hands and fingers when they contract and get stuck in a painful fist. I don’t have any braces or hand splints so I use a washcloth to keep my fingers open ( please note: if you feel that a brace or splint helps your painful joints, be sure to take breaks so they don’t become stiff or wind up loosing mobility). I keep CBD-infused jellybeans in my kit as well. These don’t alleviate much pain ( I probably don’t have a high enough dose) but they do help with the anxiety and stress that comes will the pain. I also keep tiger balm in my kit. It’s a natural balm that’s used to soothe pain. I’ve found it’s great for bringing circulation back to my limbs when I have trouble moving them. Finally: Ice packs. Ice packs aren’t always recommended for CRPS patients. I use them only when they are only slightly cool. This personally brings me the most relief.
Wow. You made it to the end of my post. I hope this helps some people that’re struggling and if you have any suggestions/advice for me or anyone else, feel free to comment :)
