I think I've had symptoms of a CSF leak since 2019, but I'm too scared to see a doctor about it because I'll feel like they'd judge me for considering something like that, despite my symptoms and the fact I've got #PosturalOrthostaticTachycardiaSyndrome and #EhlersDanlosSyndrome :( I don't know what to do.

Is comedy the best coping mechanism? Probably not. Does it help? Absolutely. With all that we go through on a daily basis, how can we not laugh at the absurdity of it all?

So much that we go through in the medical world (or really the world in general) is out of our control. Some of the mess ups end up genuinely being funny (like your doctor leaving an accidental iodine dick on your neck and your mom calling him over to look at it), but some end up being complex traumas that stick with us and continue to affect us long after the fact. I laugh at both now because I have to. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

I can control certain things. I can perfect them. And other things? I can do absolutely nothing to help or change them. That’s why I laugh. Because life is really weird and unpredictable. And you see these things happen, and it’s like, how is this actually real? It’s a strange reality to live in. I’d much rather look at it this way, but sometimes wallowing is necessary, too. Keep on keeping on. Laugh often, but cry when you need to.

Life is fucking weird. #ChronicPain #csfleaks #CerebrospinalFluidLeak #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #MCAS #Comedy
