For anyone who doesn’t know Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend were beaten and left for dead in a park by group of guys purely because of the fact they were goths.
I just finished watching the film and honestly it brought a tear to my eye. I don’t cry much at films but this kind of hit home. As a person who is alternative myself. When I was a teenager there was days where I had abuse hurled at me from many different places. I have been lucky enough in life to never have it come to this sort of tragedy. It makes me sad that even in the world of today people are so unaccepting of each other. Society is broken. I don’t personally believe society will ever be right. We are all human. We all bleed the same. A film like this strikes a sense of fear not only for myself but also my friends who like to dress in a way which isn’t deemed normal by society. I go to work and I dress smart because I’m a manager but I keep my piercings in until I get to work where I tone them down. But everyday I go to work and come home from work I get multitudes of people staring at me or looking at me in a way which is disapproving.
If only the humanity was a more accepting the world would be a better place to live.
