I AND You are allowed

To Hate Christmas and everything to do with the holidays. It does not mean I'm a grump or scrooge that I'm negative and a downer it's just that I dont want to be force fed "your" seasonal (capitalist) cheer.

Be kind to Eachother- this time of year is traumatizing for so many.

I am NOT a Holiday Girl

Why does Christmas come earlier and earlier each year. My neighbor put up decorations around November 15th. Oh, I forgot to mention they were Christmas decorations.. Yup Santa threw up on their yard early.

The holidays are not for everyone. My favorite is Thanksgiving. This day is about eating, talking, watching football and looking at ads. People come together. The “Holidays” has now become a full year wishlist with a final push starting in October. In December you return things and complain about what you didn’t get. People do good deeds and help during this season but they go right back to the focus on all they want.

My therapist assures me I’m not alone in my lack of feeling for this time of year as it is shared by many who don’t want to admit it. The assumption is people love this time of year full of giving and celebration. Let’s be real it’s about, materialism. We buy ourselves what is needed through the year, why should one day justify more expensive gifts.

People believe a nice day in November is a good reason to put up decorations. It is said, for many people taking down all the decorations of the house to replace them with holiday ones brings happiness and the feeling of Xmas. Seems like a lot of work putting things up and taking them down when it’s really too cold to be outside to notice.

To close it’s okay not to like the season and do nothing. The last 10 years I’ve gotten on a plane to sit on the beach and be grateful for the sun. We need to know we are not alone in our feelings of this time of year. The hard part is being okay when other people judge you. Then again they are always judging our feelings and priorities.
Let’s be mindful of others that may not feel as we do. #hatechristmas
