I’ve been thinking a lot about my scoliosis this week after seeing a specialist for private care. I had surgery at 15 to correct a 50 degree curve, which to this day I regret because it was a decision I made based off how I looked and how much pain I was having rather than any information about curve progression or potential risks to my lungs. I don’t think it was a good decision and I want to look into this further. For now I will just say I have suffered Chronic Pain ever since and I have been attempting to unpick the ableism I have experienced because I am tired of feeling so angry all the time. I just want to understand why. I hope this message reaches other scoliosis sufferers because I would love to talk about it.

“He told me my pain was in my head”: mitigating testimonial ...

I read this article this evening and was happy to find a support network for teenage girls. www.curvygirlsscoliosis.com

I would be interested to hear what other people think about their scoliosis. I have an idea in my head that it was a silly thing to have surgery for pain and looks when I feel that the surgery itself was more traumatising then just living with a curvature.
