Many of us go through a (sometimes painful) redefining of ourselves when we finally come to the rude awakening that our old self and the hobbies we once loved are a thing of the past — to be remembered and cherished to be sure — but a past reality nonetheless. When people asked me what I liked to do, the answer used to be so easy: dance, sing, hike, and play volleyball and tennis. Now my “hobbies” are harder to think of and articulate on the spot because they’re much simpler and less typical: coloring, conversation with others, meditation (when I feel up to it), watching feel-good or funny shows, listening to music, reading articles, and going on a walk when I can, or even just stepping outside for a minute. What creative ways have you found to still have fulfillment despite your limitations? I’d love to hear your answers! #ChronicIllness #hobbies #hobbiesforthepained #lifeisstillbeautiful
