Chester Bennington's Son Made a Video for National Suicide Prevention Week
In the months following Chester Bennington’s suicide, his wife Talinda Bennington, bandmate Mike Shinoda and others close to him have continued to speak out about depression and suicide awareness. Now, Bennington’s son, Draven Bennington, has joined them, in a short but moving video posted on Youtube.
With the Linkin Park song “Numb” playing in the background, he said:
Hi, I’m Draven Bennington, and I’m here on National Suicide Prevention Week. I want to make a commitment that I will talk to someone before I hurt myself when I’m feeling depressed, sad or going through a hard week, month or year. I want to challenge you to do the same — to help yourself, not hurt yourself.
The video was posted by Youtube user Sergey P. It’s unclear who owns this account, but the same channel posted another video featuring Draven and Chester Bennington’s ex-wife, Samantha Bennington.
“It still doesn’t feel like it actually happened,” Draven said in this video. “You always think that maybe he’s on vacation and someone just found someone else. Maybe he’ll pop back up.”
It’s been almost two months since Bennington took his own life on July 20th. We’re sending Chester’s whole family our best wishes as they continue to heal.
