Prodigy frontman Keith Flint has died at the age of 49, according to a statement released by the band on Monday. Bandmate Liam Howlett posted on Instagram confirming Flint died by suicide. “The news is true,” Howlett wrote. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend , I’m shell shocked , fuckin angry , confused and heart broken…”

A police spokesman from Essex, where the singer lived in the U.K. confirmed the Flint had died, stating the police had been called to his residence for a welfare check.

According to The Guardian,  Flint was one of the U.K.’s “most iconic” musical figures in the 90s. The band had several hits in the U.S. including “Firestarter” and “Breathe.”

Fans reacted to his death on Twitter and shared condolences.
