Rosie O’Donnell’s ex-wife Michelle Rounds has died by suicide, TMZ reported on Friday. The 46-year-old died on Monday.

O’Donnell and Rounds got married in 2012 after meeting in 2011. O’Donnell filed for divorce in 2015 and has sole custody of their daughter, whom they adopted together. “I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy,” O’Donnell said in a statement. “Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child.”

Rounds’ mother also shared a statement with TMZ asking those affected by news of her daughter’s death to donate to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. “If anyone would like to give to the National Suicide Prevention it would also be greatly appreciated,” she said, adding, “there are so many out there in this world that have demons that they think suicide is the only way out.”
