What causes COVID/Long-COVID?
COVID is a contagious virus that can easily be spread from person to person. Many people come into contact with COVID whether they are aware of it or not – some cases are asymptomatic. Long COVID is a long-term side effect of the COVID-19 virus. COVID-19 can cause long-term issues such as organ damage. Many people associate COVID with lung damage, but it can damage other organs such as the heart, kidneys, and brain. Long-term issues from COVID include difficulty breathing, kidney issues, and Guillan-Barre syndrome. Many people choose to get the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves against COVID and long COVID.

How do you treat COVID/Long-COVID?
Treatment for COVID-19 varies depending on the severity of the condition. Taking fever reducers can help improve comfort in those with a high fever. Staying hydrated and getting lots of rest may be needed in mild cases. Severe cases of COVID-19 may require hospitalization to receive IV fluids and/or oxygen replacement. Some patients have found success using antiviral medications for COVID. Another helpful treatment for COVID-19 is a monoclonal antibody infusion. Monoclonal antibodies are given via IV by a trained healthcare professional. Follow the guidance of your healthcare provider when navigating treatment for COVID-19.
