When You Can't Afford to be Seen Anymore

Formerly able to do most visits with no co-pay was an amazing blessing, and if you have it yourself, don't take it lightly.

It's bad enough to not be able to afford prescriptions even with the help of insurance, but the sudden news of a co-pay is due before you're seen anymore, and you can't afford it...

The hospital is an option, but not a good one. Hours of wait time and currently a packed COVID unit, plus a massive bill later.

Is there a financial assistance form? Oh, there is, but it can only pay back after I pay today? Oh...

Today, I can probably look up at home remedies to hold off medicine for a short time, but with a likely infection again, I'll have to come back after the holidays and pay. I could ask family for a loan, but in my case, that's a whole new messy can of worms.

There are going to be future co-pays now... How much of my health care am I about to lose because of that fact alone? How bad will this make me look on my SS application (into year two of fighting for that now) that suddenly I dropped a ton of treatment and meds but still claim I need them?

I need to give myself a good, long cry.

What to choose?

How can anyone afford a heath insurance co-pay of $278.00 ? The system wants us to fail... then glorifies us when we become a statistic - so what do you choose ? Food ? Rent? Car payment ? Student loans? Or mental health and medication - just can’t win #HealthInsurance #Copay #Medication #BipolarDisorder ##statistic
