It’s that time again — who’s ready for the weekend?
If you think you might struggle in your recovery this weekend, now is the perfect time to “cope ahead.” Where do you think you might struggle this weekend, and how do you plant to cope? #CheckInWithMe #recoverywarriors

The weekend can be a hard time to make recovery-oriented decisions because of the lack of structure, and if you live in America, this long weekend may especially test your recovery abilities. What challenges do you anticipate this weekend, and how will you cope? What skills/techniques will you use?
Personally, I’m anxious because this weekend will be my first time interviewing someone, and my perfectionism is really kicking in. I’ve been avoiding finalizing the interview questions, but I’ll cope by setting a specific time to finish them up, reframing negative thoughts, and practicing opposite action.

One of the biggest challenges for many of us is getting through the weekend. Weekends are unstructured, so maintaining recovery is more difficult. So it’s time for our weekend “cope ahead.” What challenges do you expect to face this weekend? How will you cope healthily?
Personally, I’m a bit anxious because I’m preparing a surprise for someone and want it to come together perfectly. I’ll cope by reminding myself that no one is perfect, and they’ll love the surprise no matter what, as well as use distress tolerance skills to combat the anxiety.

Mine: I’ve been struggling with depression, so motivating myself to care for myself might be hard. I plan on taking the weekend one minute at a time and doing what I can.

Personally, I’ve been struggling with depression and life transitions, and I’m guessing I might feel the same way over the weekend. I plan to stay on top of eating meals and do something enjoyable each day that’s just for me. Share your challenges and coping skills below!
