I find that, though difficult, there is something comforting in the extreme silence experienced - felt. It is loud, terrifying, and all-consuming. The silence envelops me in its covering; painful and suffocating as it may be, it has some sense of obscure security. Below is a #mightypoem I wrote several years ago.

Hold me, Dear Silence.
Let nothing interfere.
The noise of this world
brings nothing, but fear.
I curl and I shrink,
trying to cover my ears –
their sounds rumble 'round –
I feel they are near.
Now, hold me Dear Silence.
Hold me and steer.
Keep tight your reigns
and take away my tears.
