Worries assuaged

I posted a few weeks ago about my son’s probable diagnosis of Primary Cutaneous Follicle Center Lymphoma. He has a large lesion on his right cheek.

PCFCL generally is contained in the skin, but he had a PET scan Monday to be sure that nothing spread. We got the good news today that his insides are A OK! He faces radiation now.

Thanks for all the prayers and support!

Worried

All day long I’ve had a sense of foreboding that I couldn’t shake. It felt like my psych meds weren’t working at all.

Then my son got news from his dermatologist about a lesion on his face. He most likely has Primary Cutaneous Follicle Center Lymphoma.
He’s been referred to an oncologist.

Actually it sounds scarier than it is. It’s highly treatable if it hasn’t spread, and usually it doesn’t. But I’m still freaked out.

I remembered that exactly 20 years ago today- July 20, 2006- my father-in-law was diagnosed with skin cancer. He had let it go a long time, and he underwent a ten hour surgery that removed it all. He lived another nineteen years.

So there’s reason to be optimistic. But because he has serious mental health issues (schizophrenia and depression) I worry about how he will cope.

I covet your prayers.
