Chester Bennington to Appear on Pre-Recorded 'Carpool Karaoke' Next Week
After Chester Bennington died by suicide in July, James Corden, host of “The Late Late Show,” wasn’t sure if a pre-recorded segment of “Carpool Karaoke” featuring the Linkin Park singer would be aired. Bennington died shortly after the segment was taped.
“Carpool Karaoke” is one of Corden’s most beloved segments, featuring the late night host driving a car with celebrities, singing along to songs. This episode was part of an Apple Music spinoff series, and the band took a ride with actor Ken Jeong, known for his role on the TV show, “Community.”
Corden said the show was leaving it up to Bennington’s family to decide if the episode should air. “We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled,” Corden told the Associated Press.
But on Thursday, Linkin Park announced on social media that in fact, the episode would be released.
This isn’t the first time footage of Bennington has surfaced as fans process and mourn his death. Bennington’s wife, Talinda Bennington, shared a video of her husband goofing around and laughing only 36 hours before his suicide. She wrote, “This is what depression looked like to us.”
It can be comforting to look back at “good times” after someone dies by suicide — but of course, it can also be hard.
