Who supports you in your recovery / growth progress? I know my Emotions Matter!

I know in my life, its been a lot of challenges and a lot of rewards. However, there seem to be many more challenges, and getting to a place where I finally am able to understand who I am and where I can find community. It’s been a long, long time constantly searching for community and people who would really understand what I have experienced in life and maybe give me some better resources to add to my growth process. After a long, long time searching for a solid source for community that wasn’t on a social media platform and comprised of people with lived experience as me. I found Emotions Matter. This is not an advertisement. This is a love song to a place, a group, a people who for once really understood what it is like to be really different. Well this weekend is a special event for me and for this community I have found. Emotions Matter is having their 7th Annual - Walk for BPD. This is the time when everyone can join together in unity and walk, wherever they are, to support people with BPD and raise money to support the FREE services they offer to ANYONE! Yes, free and available to anyone with lived BPD experience. It’s so real and helpful and resourceful. They have helped me so much. I am so much happier just knowing this community is there. You can’t have the rainbow without the rain

Something I realized during my therapy session today. It feels obvious, but you can’t push away the negative feelings without unintentially pushing away the good ones. Not letting yourself feel the sorrow and pain also means you don’t feel the joy and happiness.
We are sensory beings and we need to feel everything, otherwise we aren’t feeling anything.
My homework from my therapist this week is to be present with my emotions and to not push them away but to say “it’s okay to feel this” and to be in the moment and let myself feel rather than try to bury it.
