Healing trauma at the cellular level #CPTSD #Trauma

Please look up Irene Lyon on Youtube. She has a ton of science-backed trainings, Q&Asessions, special lecture series, etc., on just what you described—it’s called the “new” traumatology, and Irene is a nervous system specialist who teaches you how to access your physiology, tapping into our innate ability to heal at the cellular level. It’s the missing link to becoming our own medicine by being an apprentice of our nervous systems. This work throws all other mind-body info out of the ballpark! She’s brilliant and has combined the works of the forefathers of the “new” traumatology (team) that’s been in the making for 70+ years by some of the most brilliant forward-thinking minds on the globe who are all doctors of their specialties: Dr. Bessell Van Der Kolk from Harvard; Dr. Gabor Mate; Dr. Peter Levine; Dr. Kathy Kain; Moshe Feldenkrais; Dr. Doidge; Dr. Porges; Dr. Terrell; Dr. Robert Scaer and others—Irene combines the teachings of all of them—she learned their works-- and it’s become her life’s work—and she graciously shares it with the world in hopes we can stop raising our young incorrectly and therefore, create happier, healthier nervous systems in all! Irene hopes to have a polyvagally-informed society someday, and thus, has a real eye-opening, revolutionizing, and fascinating online program called SmartBody SmartMind. There are thousands of people from over 90 countries in the world participating in this cellular-level healing of trauma. Teachings of practices that actually work--by working with the body on the cellular level getting to the REAL, ROOT. Unfortunately western medicine looks at trauma as an event—as something that affected our mind --and therefore they try to treat the mind, and often without success of it “sticking”. Trauma is not an event, it’s what happens to the body from the event. The body traps the trauma and stores it. Dr. Van Der Kolk’s book: “The Body Keeps The Score”..is only ONE resource that scientifically proves this. Check out the following youtube videos--just learning about this traumatology science actually helps your nervous system while you’re learning it, believe it or not!

Some of the YouTube Videos I suggest to watch are:

“A tribute to Dr. Vincent Felitti and the ACES study.”

“How is trauma REALLY released?” By Irene Lyon

“How childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime” Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, TedTalk, YouTube, published 9.12.19

“How safe do you feel? Revolutionizing mental health with the polyvagal theory” By Dr. Porges

“Special topic lecture: Real Healing Means Real Feeling” By Irene Lyon--she has tons of videos that teach you all about the nervous system, the polyvagal theory, and trauma--from how it happens, why it happens, how it gets stored in the body, why it gets stored in the body, and what you can actually and effectively do about it! #CPTSD #Trauma   #polyvagal #nervoussystem #aces #Dissociation #fightflightfreeze

Bad Source? When Ppl W/O Mental Health Issues Post Abt F/F/F

I am looking for feedback on an article posted this past week on a friend's FB account, hosted by Medium (a source I generally regard as honest), but that has really rubbed me the wrong way--the description of what happens as a result of fight/flight/freeze response in light of the CoronaVirus pandemic. PLEASE, would you mind indulging me?

See below link & excerpt pasted; it starts off as somewhat typical re this topic, though the part in question is toward the bottom of the pasted text ----describing the fight/flight/freeze as a SELFISH stance, where one is INCAPABLE OF EMPATHY (!??)

I feel this is a gross misrepresentation & nowhere near my personal experience, having had an over abundance of  F/F/F response due to repeated trauma throughout child & adulthood.  It feels to me that the author is blaming trauma victims for even having a response to begin with:

https://medium.com/the-mission/why-coronavirus-should-be-the-least-of-your-worries-d6ed6abe75bc (author Dr. Eugene K. Choi,  Mission.org)

"But what I do want to share something that’s been on my mind about what the biggest problem going on with all of this. There’s something much worse that’s spreading a lot faster.

It’s FEAR.  And here’s the truth. The FEAR of the Coronavirus is deadlier than the virus itself. You see, when you are in fear, a reactive part of your brain called the amygdala takes control of your actions.

You enter into a fight-flight-freeze response. (It’s what's causing people to buy way too much toilet paper.) And when you are in this reactive state, your body starts producing a steroid called cortisol to help you handle the stress. And guess what cortisol does to your immune system? It WEAKENS it!

We have bacteria, viruses, fungus & a whole array of foreign particles we are exposed to every day, but it’s your immune system that prevents you from getting sick.

When we’re in fight-flight because of worries or anxiety, our bodies are wasting a ton of energy because it actually thinks it might die at that current moment. And all that energy that’s gone now makes our bodies weaker and more vulnerable. Being afraid is literally making you even more susceptible to getting sick.

And guess what else happens when you are in fight-flight-freeze mode? You’re in a SELFISH, self-protective state. You literally lose the capability of thinking or having empathy.

This is where so much of the damn racism is coming from because people are so afraid and they’re only looking out for themselves. It’s what prevents us from thinking clearly & end up making matters worse."

Thoughts plz?
I would like to address my concerns to the author, but also to my friend (who does not struggle w/ mental health issues & yet seems to value highly the content w/in the article.) It tells me that she really does not understand me, or at minimum categorizes my troubles as being self-indulgent. Having fear does not equal selfishness.
Thanks to all-
