Hello, Fellow Actors ! #ActorsWithDisabilities #Acting #Theater

Actors, have you found a supportive agent or manager? Are there associations that can help us?
Hi! I am an actress, and I have #EhlersDanlosSyndrome and #PosturalOrthostaticTachycardiaSyndrome . I’m currently studying Acting in LA, but I’ve been doing plays since I was 4 years old.
Being an actor with #ChronicPain and invisible disabilities is very hard. Rehearsing for professional plays and being on set all day is extremely tiring. I usually spend 10-16 hours working. I can barely sleep and eat. Most directors and fellow actors are NOT understanding. I love acting, but I don’t know how to survive in this industry. Recommendations and tips are welcome! ☺️

The Actor and the Director #Acting #Art

My director called me out for not be prepared for a rehearsal in front of the entire cast. I knew I wasn’t well prepared for this rehearsal already and had already berated myself over it several times. When he called me out on it, he talked about it for 5 minutes and I felt utterly humiliated. I wanted to cry but I had to keep it together for the remaining hour and a half of rehearsal. This incident basically confirmed what my depression/anxiety has been telling me throughout the whole process: “You are holding everyone else back”. I logically know this is not true and that I’m doing my best. It just feels like my best isn’t good enough.
