Birth Control + Chronic Illness
If you’re on birth control and have GI issues like I do I highly suggest the patch! I’m not a fan of the implants or IUDs so this was a good in between and definitely worth a try. #BirthControl

I started birth control 2 weeks ago. Up until that point I had been managing my mental health really well. Going to school and feeling interested / engaged, taking my medication, feeling relaxed and happy. I decided to make an appointment with a doctor for birth control as my cramps were really bad when my period would come. My mom had told me birth control helped her with this and a friend of mine said the same. I’ve been in a long term relationship for 3 years and do not plan on having kids anytime soon as I’m only 22; so birth control seemed like a bonus in that department. Since taking the birth control, I have felt easily agitated, overwhelmed, stressed and overly emotional. It feels like I haven’t been taking my normal medications even though I take them every night with the birth control. I have BPD, and my councillor suspects undiagnosed ADHD. I am really struggling lately with feeling engaged and being emotionally stable. I can’t focus well on school. The doctors told me to see if I regulate in a month or 3. I’m trying my best to use self compassion and patience with myself. But if I’m being honest, sometimes I don’t know how much longer I can feel like this again. I really hate feeling so disregulated. Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience, thank you for listening. #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder #BirthControl #Anxiety #ADHDInGirls
So, I’ve got PMDD and it can be pretty severe. I’ve been on tablet birth control to help keep it in check but I also have ADD and sometimes forget to take it or as I discovered recently will accidentally drop the tiny tablet on the floor, thinking I have taken it, and not notice until I find it however many days later. I know that injections for birth control are a thing and I think might solve the problem of forgetting or dropping pills. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the injections who has PMDD and whether it helped? #PMDD #BirthControl

Hello. So I've had depression since I was 17, (23 now) and I've been on many different anti depressants. a couple have helped most haven't. When I was 20 they put me on birth control and it turned my depression that was pretty under control into a nightmare. The dr refused to do anything so I threw the pills away and that was that. well now my new gyno is telling me I need to be on birth control so he put me on a different pill. It's only been a week and I'm already noticing my depression worsening. Does it get any better?

I had my anxiety fairly well controlled for many months but several months ago it got quite severe again and I’ve been unable to control it, I’ve tried meds and therapy. I recently read an article that linked IUDs to anxiety, more specifically panic disorders, and depression. At the time it didn’t occur to me but when my anxiety started getting bad again is around the same time I got my IUD. The article, however, also said that many people experience a post birth control syndrome in which their symptoms get worse after removing the IUD. Does anyone have an experience or insight into this? #Anxiety #Depression #BirthControl
